WOODS, COMMISSIONER KW RE: UPDATES PURSANT TO THE LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE GUARANTY ASSOCIATION AMENDMENT ACT OF 2023 DATE: March 5, 2024 The purpose of this Bulletin is to update the summary disclosure regarding life and health guaranty association insolvency protection. Pursuant to D.C. Official Code § 31-5416, as amended by D.C. Law 25-0122, all life, health, and annuity contract providers subject to the provisions therein are required to provide policy and contract holders the attached "SUMMARY OF GENERAL PURPOSES, COVERAGE LIMITATIONS, AND CONSUMER PROTECTIONS" notice prior to or at the time of delivery of the policy or contract. Insurers do not need to file the form they intend to use with the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking ("Department"), unless they modify the language used in any way. Please also note that the Department removed addresses from the notice for both the Department and the Guaranty Association to avoid the need to update the notice should there be a change in address for either entity. The websites and general phone numbers will continue to be available in the notice.
