§ 59A-22-1. Scope of article

Chapter 59A, Article 22 NMSA 1978 applies generally to policies of individual health insurance, including student health plan policies. Nothing in that article shall apply to or affect: A. any policy of workers' compensation insurance or any policy of liability insurance with or without supplementary expense coverage therein; B. life insurance, endowment or annuity contracts or contracts supplemental thereto that contain only such provisions relating to health insurance as: (1) provide additional benefits in case of death by accident; and (2) operate to safeguard such contracts against lapse or to give a special surrender value or special benefit or annuity in event the insured or annuitant becomes totally and permanently disabled, as defined by the contract or supplemental contract; C. group or blanket health insurance, except as stated in Chapter 59A, Article 23 NMSA 1978; or D. reinsurance.
