Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development DIVISION OF INSURANCE 550 West Seventh Avenue, Suite 1560 Anchorage, AK 99501-3567 Main: 907.269.7900 Fax: 907.269.7910 BULLETIN B 21-06 TO: ALL ACTIVE COMPANIES IN STATE BASED SYSTEMS (SBS) RE: OPTins FOR AD HOC FILINGS AND PAYMENTS In August 2021, the Alaska Division of Insurance implemented OPTins (Online Premium Tax for Insurance) for insurers and entities filing the UCAA Application and Amendment Additional Documents and Payments, Other Non-Admitted Company Applications, Statistical Report Updates, Advisory Organization Updates, and Market Conduct Exam Results. OPTins is a product of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and has been developed to facilitate the submission of forms and payments. Alaska implemented the use of OPTins to file the documents and pay fees related to the filings stated above. What this means for you? If you have already completed the implementation process, you may use OPTins to transmit documents and payments to the Alaska Division Insurance electronically. You will log into OPTins and go through the three-step filing wizard. Step one will have you select which account you will be creating. Step two will allow you to upload supporting documents. Step three, the $15 NAIC Transaction fee will be included with your fee, if necessary, to Alaska. What are the next steps if you don’t have an OPTins account? If you have not created an OPTins account, the steps to implement an account and submit your assessment filing are very simple. Go to www.optins.org and click on New Users  Get Started on the right-hand side. There you will find the implementation paperwork and easy-to-follow instructions. It is important to register early because to set up a new account takes 3-5 business days. Contact the OPTins Marketing Team at optinsmktg@naic.org or call (816) 783-8787 if you have any questions regarding the implementation process. If you have any questions regarding types of filings and payments accepted through OPTins, please contact Rebecca Nesheim at (907) 465-2584 or email rebecca.nesheim@alaska.gov.
