Bell, Commissioner DATE: August 17, 2006 WAB RE: Claims Hotline Numbers of Insurers Due to widespread consumer inquiries following Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan, it was productive for the Alabama Department of Insurance to maintain a list of claims telephone hotline numbers of insurers. Because some companies may make changes to these telephone numbers, it is also productive to require companies to periodically submit these telephone numbers to the Department. In this light, I hereby direct all property and casualty companies doing business in Alabama to submit telephone numbers that they intend to use as claims hotline numbers for Alabama consumers in the event of a hurricane or other major catastrophe. Companies should submit their information – whether it has changed or not – via email to Ragan Ingram at george.ingram@insurance.alabama.gov within 15 business days.
