Bell, Commissioner of Insurance DATE: April 10, 2007 SUBJECT: Applicability of the Alternative Procedures for Resolution of Disputed Personal Lines Insurance Claims to Property Claims Arising from the Tornados that Occurred in Alabama on March 1, 2007 Alabama Insurance Regulation, Chapter 482-1-135, entitled Alternative Procedures for Resolution of Disputed Personal Lines Insurance Claims Arising from Hurricane, Tropical Storm, Tornado and Other Disasters Damage, became effective December 31, 2005. This regulation provides a mediation process for pending disputed claims from Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, as well as future claims related to disaster damage. Pursuant to this Bulletin, the Alabama Department of Insurance hereby declares that the mediation requirements of Chapter 482-1-135 and the Bulletin dated May 17, 2006, apply to property claims arising from the tornados that occurred in Alabama on March 1, 2007.
