Sanson: This is in response to your opinion request wherein you asked when the Standards for Accreditation of Arkansas Public Schools as adopted by the State Board of Education pursuant to Act 445 of 1983 would become effective. Dispositive of your inquiry is Section 2 of Act 445 of which provides in pertinent part as follows: 1983 All public elementary and secondary schools that fail to meet minimum standards for acerediting Arkansas elementary and secondary public schools in this State, as promulgated by the State Board of Education, under the provisions of this Act, shall be eliminated not later than June 1, 1987, ... In response to your inquiry, it is the opinion of this office that the standards in question must be met by June l, 1987.
