$L-3 85 WT [338 yg blah Opinion No. 86-385 August 27, 1987 Sheriff Jerry Johnson White County Courthouse 411 North Spruce Street Searcy, Arkansas 72143-4298 Dear Sheriff Johnson: This is in reply to your letter requesting an opinion on the following: Whether a Deputy Sheriff within the county can run their tickets written within the city limits of incorporated cities through Municipal Court or do they have to run them through the city courts. A municipal court has county wide jurisdiction, Ark. Stat. Ann. §22-709; Horn v. State, 282 Ark. 75, 665 S.W.2d 880 (1984). Accordingly, tickets written in the county would appear to be within their jurisdiction and could be brought before that court. The Attorney General is authorized to render formal and official opinions to officers and departments of the State government only. Necessarily, therefore, the foregoing is not to be considered a formal opinion of the Attorney General, but is an informal and unofficial expression of view given with the desire to be helpful to you. Sincerely yours, JERRY E. ROSE Assistant Attorney General JER:sfh
