Benefits Eliminated By The Medicare Catastrophic Act Of 1988

ARKANSAS INSURANCE DEPARTMENT LEGAL DIVISION 1200 West Third Street Little Rock, AR 72201-1904 501-371-2820 FAX 501-371-2629 BULLETIN 2-91 BENEFITS ELIMNATED BY THE MEDICARE CATASTROPHIC ACT OF 1988 May 31, 1991 The Administrator of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has directed that this Department advise all licensed disability insurers of the fact that all Medicare Supplement Policy benefits which had earlier been eliminated by the terms of the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 must be made available to their insureds. Now that certain sections of said Act have been repealed, it is necessary for each disability insurer writing such coverage to notify their insureds of the availability of such coverages at appropriate premium rates. Your attention in this regard is called to Section 7.B. of Rule and Regulation 27. All policyholders, including individual certificate holders of group policies, holding policies currently in force shall be offered such coverages.
