23 CAR § 355-1352. Game interruption and resumption
Length: 298 wordsOfficial source
After a program interruption (e.g., power down), the software shall be able to recover to the state it was in immediately prior to the interruption occurring and:
(1)(A) If an EGS is powered down while in an error condition, then upon restoring power, the error message shall be displayed and the EGS shall remain locked-up.
(B) This is unless power-down is used as part of the error reset procedure, or if on power-up or door closure, the EGS checks for the error condition and detects that the error is no longer in existence;
(2) The program shall not be adversely affected by the simultaneous or sequential activation of the various inputs and outputs such as play buttons which might cause malfunctions or invalid results;
(3) Upon program resumption, the following procedures shall be performed as a minimum requirement:
(A) Any communications to an external device shall not begin until the program resumption routine, including self-tests, is completed successfully;
(B)(i) EGS control programs shall test themselves for possible corruption due to failure of the program storage media.
(ii) The authentication may use the checksum.
(iii) However, it is preferred that the cyclic redundancy check calculations are used as a minimum (at least sixteen (16) bit).
(iv) Other test methodologies shall be of a certified type;
(C) The integrity of all critical memory shall be checked; and
(D) Games utilizing microprocessor-controlled mechanical displays (e.g., reels or wheels), shall respin automatically to display the last valid game’s result when the play mode is re-entered, and the reel positions have been altered;
(E)(i) The bill validator device shall perform a self-test at each power up.
(ii) In the event of a self-test failure the bill validator shall automatically disable itself (i.e., enter bill reject state) until the error state has been cleared.
