§38a-343 must be revised to comply with Public Act 05-282 effective October 1, 2005. The
content of the notice must be approved by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and the Insurance
Commissioner. Companies utilizing the wording below need not submit a copy of the notice to the
Insurance Department. Companies that wish to deviate from the wording below must file the

WARNING
This cancellation will be reported to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. If you do not
immediately return your registration marker plates you may receive one or more written
inquiries from the Commissioner concerning whether or not the required minimum
insurance has been maintained. You must respond to these inquiries. If your insurance
coverage lapses, the Commissioner may suspend the registration(s) for the vehicle(s)
covered under the policy. Your registration marker plates will be subject to confiscation. If
you continue to operate the vehicle after the registration has been suspended, you will be
subject to penalties for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
You will not be able to have the registration restored or obtain a new registration or any
other registration or renewal in your name until you:
1. present evidence of the required insurance coverage to the Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles;
2. enter into a consent agreement with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles which will
include payment of a civil penalty of $200;
