Substitution of drugs. Definitions

As used in sections 20-576-27 through 20-576-30, inclusive, of the Regulations of
Connecticut State Agencies, "Purchaser" means the patient for whom the drug product
is prescribed, or the patient's authorized agent, or, in the case of a minor or incompetent
person, the patient's parent or guardian except that for subsection (e) of section
20-619 of the General Statutes the word "Purchaser" means the Payor of a prescription
drug; and "Substitution" means the dispensing of a different drug, biological, medicinal
substance, device or brand of the same in place of the drug, biological, medicinal
substance, device or brand of the same prescribed without the express permission of
the prescribing practitioner, except as provided in section 20-619 of the General
Statutes, or in hospitals without the express approval of the medical staff pharmacy
committee.
