Collection, use, maintenance and release of confidential information related to pending criminal prosecution of sexual assault charges

criminal prosecution of sexual assault charges
(a) The commission shall provide the opportunity for an individual, who is a victim of
a sexual assault under section 53a-70, 53a-71, 53a-72a, 53a-72b or 53a-73a of the
Connecticut General Statutes, or injury or risk of injury, or impairing of morals
under section 53-21 of the Connecticut General Statutes, or an attempt thereof to
obtain protection of her or his name and address information that is collected, used,
maintained or released by the commission in the discharge of its duties and responsibilities
under the Connecticut General Statutes. The collection, use, maintenance or release
of the complainant's name and address by the commission shall at all times be consistent
with its announced intention to preserve the privacy rights of individuals.
(b) In order for the commission to process the complaint of a protected individual, the
protected individual or a person authorized to act and consent for the protected individual
shall provide specific or general written releases as the circumstances dictate, for
the release of the complainant's name.
(c) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, the commission shall not release
the complainant's confidential name and address information unless released to disclose
the information by the complainant or ordered to disclose this information by the
order of the Superior Court.
