Payment of fees

The payment of all fees to the Commissioner provided for in Chapter 246 through Chapter 248 of the General Statutes shall be by means of cash, personal check, or form of certified or bank draft that is immediately payable without recourse. All checks must be (1) completed, (2) made payable to the Commissioner or the Department of Motor Vehicles, or other official or agency, such as the Commissioner of Revenue Services, for which the Department is acting as collection agent, (3) identified to the specific transaction, and (4) shall be in the exact amount required by the transaction. No third party checks or incomplete or postdated instruments will be accepted. No cash refunds in excess of ten ($10) dollars will be made at the main office or any branch office of the Department. The commissioner retains the option to accept the use of commercial credit cards as a form of payment, provided the same shall be approved in the future by the State Treasurer.
