The department shall pay for medically necessary and appropriate nurse-midwifery services for Medical Assistance Program eligible clients: (a) requiring care during an essentially normal maternity cycle or requiring well-woman gynecological care; (b) of child-bearing age who indicate a need for family planning services and are free from coercion or mental pressure and are free to choose the method of family planning to be used; (c) provided by a licensed and certified nurse-midwife within the scope of the nurse-midwife's practice; and (d) if the services are made part of the client's medical record.
