1300 PURPOSE AND APPLICABILITY 1300.1 This chapter contains the rules and procedures to be followed by the Office of the Attorney General and all persons requesting records from the Office pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act of 1976, effective March 25, 1977, D.C. Law 1-96, 23 DCR 3744 (1977) (Act). 1300.2 Employees may continue to furnish to the public, informally and without compliance with these procedures, information and records that they customarily furnish in the regular performance of their duties. 1300.3 The policy of the Office of the Attorney General is one of full and responsible disclosure of its identifiable records consistent with the provisions of D.C. Law 1-96. All records that are responsive to a request and that are not exempt from disclosure shall be made available to the requester. Moreover, records exempt from mandatory disclosure may be made available as a matter of discretion when disclosure is permitted by law and in the public interest.
