799. DEFINITIONS

799 DEFINITIONS 799.1 When used in this chapter, the following terms and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed: Aggrieved Party - any person claiming to be aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice. Act - the District of Columbia Human Rights Act of 1977, effective December 13, 1977 (D.C. Law 2-38; D.C. Official Code § 2-1401.01 et seq.). Commission - the Commission on Human Rights, as established by section 401 of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 2-1404.01). Complainant - any person or organization filing a complaint with the Office. Complaint - a notarized statement filed with the Office that sets forth a claim of discrimination. Day - a calendar day, unless otherwise specified. Director - the Director of the Office, or a member of the Office staff specifically delegated the authority to act for the Director. Office - the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights, as established by section 202 of the Act (D.C. Official Code § 2-1411.01). Party or Parties - the complainant or the respondent. Position Statement - the respondent’s official response to the allegations in the Charge of Discrimination.
