4.4-Fraud Referral The SMRC will document their findings in a standard format, and, when appropriate, refer the case to the Center for Program Integrity (CPI)/Unified Program Integrity Contractor (UPIC) for development through the current process in place with CMS. The SMRC will remain accessible to the referral agency to facilitate their investigation, and to prepare potential cases for litigation or prosecution.
