30.2.2 - Active Treatment (Rev. 59, Issued: 11-09-06, Effective: 01-01-05, Implementation: 12-04-06) Payment for IPF services is to be made only for "active treatment" that can reasonably be expected to improve the patient's condition. To assure that payment is made only under such circumstances, the law includes certain requirements that must be met before the services furnished in an IPF can be covered, including medical necessity and certification.
