Unsolicited Overpayment Refunds

170.6 - Unsolicited Overpayment Refunds (Rev. 29, 01-02-04) When a provider believes that an overpayment has been received and makes an unsolicited refund, the FI/Carrier accepts it regardless of the amount. All documentation submitted with the unsolicited refund should be forwarded to the correct department. (See Program Integrity Manual, Ch. 3, § 8.4 for unsolicited refunds related to an outstanding fraud investigation.)
