8.3.2.2.4 – Mailing the Notice to the Provider (Rev. 11032; Issued: 09-30-21; Effective: 10-12-21; Implementation: 11-10-21) After consultation with and approval from CPI, the UPIC shall send the approved payment suspension notice (initial, responses to rebuttals, extensions, and terminations) to the provider. All such notices shall be sent via USPS certified mail or utilizing other commercial mail carriers that allow the tracking of the correspondence to ensure receipt by the provider. In the case of fraud suspensions, the UPIC shall send an informational copy to the OIG, FBI, or the AUSA for its file, if law enforcement has been previously involved and/or has an active investigation/case on the provider. The UPIC shall also upload the signed copies of all notices released to the provider into the UCM.
