REPORT ON EXPANSION OF AUTHORITY OF A MEMBER TO DESIGNATE PERSONS TO DIRECT DISPOSITION OF THE REMAINS OF A DECEASED MEMBER.

SEC. 543. REPORT ON EXPANSION OF AUTHORITY OF A MEMBER TO DESIGNATE PERSONS TO DIRECT DISPOSITION OF THE REMAINS OF A DECEASED MEMBER. Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a 123 STAT. 2301 report evaluating the potential effects of expanding the list of persons under section 1482(c) of title 10, United States Code, who may be designated by a member of the Armed Forces as the person authorized to direct disposition of the remains of the member if the member is deceased to include persons who are not family members of members of the Armed Forces.
