SEC. 31202. PERMIT REMINDER SYSTEM FOR NON-USE OF SAFETY BELTS.(a) In General.—Chapter 301 of title 49, United States Code, is amended—(1) in section 30122, by striking subsection (d); and(2) by amending section 30124 to read as follows:“§ 30124. Nonuse of safety belts “A motor vehicle safety standard prescribed under this chapter may not require a manufacturer to comply with the standard by 126 STAT. 758 using a safety belt interlock designed to prevent starting or operating a motor vehicle if an occupant is not using a safety belt.” .(b) Conforming Amendment.—The analysis for chapter 301 of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 30124 and inserting the following: “Sec. 30124. Nonuse of safety belts.”.
