SEC. 564. TRANSITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR DEPENDENT CHILDREN WHO ARE CARRIED DURING PREGNANCY AT TIME OF DEPENDENT-ABUSE OFFENSE COMMITTED BY AN INDIVIDUAL WHILE A MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES.(a) In General.—Section 1059 of title 10, United States Code, is amended—(1) in subsection (f), by adding at the end the following new paragraph:“(4) Payment to a child under this section shall not cover any period before the birth of the child.”; and(2) in subsection (l), by striking “at the time of the dependent-abuse offense resulting in the separation of the former member” in the matter preceding paragraph (1) and inserting “or eligible spouse at the time of the dependent-abuse offense resulting in the separation of the former member or who was carried during pregnancy at the time of the dependent-abuse offense resulting in the separation of the former member and was subsequently born alive to the eligible spouse or former spouse”.126 STAT. 1749(b) Prospective Applicability.—No benefits shall accrue by reason of the amendments made by this section for any month that begins before the date of the enactment of this Act.
