SEC 3502. AUTHORIZATION OF EXPENDITURES (a) In General.—The Panama Canal Commission is authorized to make such expenditures within the limits of funds and borrowing authority available to it in accordance with law, and to make such 103 STAT. 1689contracts and commitments, without regard to fiscal year limitations, as may be necessary under the Panama Canal Act of 1979 (22 U.S.C. 3601 et seq.), for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Panama Canal for fiscal year 1990, except that not more than $52,000 for such fiscal year may be expended for official reception and representation functions, of which— (1) not more than $12,000 may be expended for such purposes by the supervisory board for the Commission; (2) not more than $6,000 may be expended for such purposes by the Secretary of the Commission; and (3) not more than $34,000 may be expended for such purposes by the Administrator of the Commission. (b) Purchase of Passenger Motor Vehicles.—Funds available to the Panama Canal Commission shall be available for the purchase of passenger motor vehicles (including large heavy-duty vehicles) used to transport personnel of the Commission across the Isthmus of Panama. Such vehicles may be purchased without regard to price limitations prescribed by law or regulation.
