SEC. 6024. USE OF MORE RECENT DATA REGARDING ROUTINE SERVICE COSTS OF SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES. The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall determine mean per diem routine service costs for freestanding and hospital based skilled nursing facilities under section 1888(a) of the Social Security Act for cost reporting periods beginning on or after October 1, 1989, in accordance with regulations published by the Secretary that require the use of cost reports submitted by skilled nursing facilities for cost reporting periods beginning not earlier than October 1, 1985.
