SEC. 7113. GRANTS TO UPGRADE AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SCIENCE FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT AT INSULAR AREA LAND-GRANT INSTITUTIONS.(a) Supporting Tropical and Subtropical Agricultural Research.—(1) In general.—Section 1447B(a) of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3222b–2(a)) is amended to read as follows:“(a) Purpose.—It is the intent of Congress to assist the land-grant colleges and universities in the insular areas in efforts to—“(1) acquire, alter, or repair facilities or relevant equipment necessary for conducting agricultural research; and128 STAT. 875“(2) support tropical and subtropical agricultural research, including pest and disease research.”.(2) Conforming amendment.—Section 1447B of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3222b–2) is amended in the heading—(A) by inserting “and support tropical and subtropical agricultural research” after “equipment”; and(B) by striking “institutions” and inserting “colleges and universities”.(b) Extension.—Section 1447B(d) of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 3222b–2(d)) is amended by striking “2012” and inserting “2018”.
