United States Marshals Service salaries and expenses For necessary expenses of the United States Marshals Service, $1,230,581,000, of which not to exceed $6,000 shall be available for official reception and representation expenses, and not to exceed $15,000,000 shall remain available until expended. construction For construction in space controlled, occupied or utilized by the United States Marshals Service for prisoner holding and related support, $15,000,000, to remain available until expended. federal prisoner detention (including transfer of funds) For necessary expenses related to United States prisoners in the custody of the United States Marshals Service as authorized by section 4013 of title 18, United States Code, $1,454,414,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That not to exceed $20,000,000 shall be considered “funds appropriated for State and local law enforcement assistance” pursuant to section 4013(b) of title 18, United States Code: Provided further, That the United States Marshals Service shall be responsible for managing the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System: Provided further, That any unobligated balances available from funds appropriated under the heading “General Administration, Detention Trustee” shall be transferred to and merged with the appropriation under this heading.
