QUARTERLY UPDATES ON THE F–35 JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER PROGRAM.

SEC. 155. QUARTERLY UPDATES ON THE F–35 JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER PROGRAM.(a) In General.—Beginning not later than October 1, 2018, and on a quarterly basis thereafter through October 1, 2022, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment shall provide to the congressional defense committees a briefing on the progress of the F–35 Joint Strike Fighter program.(b) Elements.—Each briefing under subsection (a) shall include, with respect to the F–35 Joint Strike Fighter program, the following elements:(1) An overview of the program schedule.132 STAT. 1673(2) A description of each contract awarded under the program, including a description of the type of contract and the status of the contract.(3) An assessment of the status of the program with respect to—(A) modernization;(B) modification;(C) testing;(D) delivery;(E) sustainment;(F) program management; and(G) efforts to ensure that excessive sustainment costs do not threaten the ability of the Department of Defense to purchase the required number of aircraft.
