Sec. 631. (a) Section 3401(a) of title 39, United States Code, is amended in clause (1)(A) by striking out “or” the first time it appears in such clause and inserting “, or temporarily deployed overseas for an operational contingency in arduous circumstances, as determined by the Secretary of Defense” after “belligerent”. (b) This section shall apply to military personnel participating in “Operation Desert Shield”.
