afghanistan—humanitarian assistance Sec. 536. Of the aggregate amount of funds appropriated by this Act, to be derived in equal parts from the funds appropriated to carry out the provisions of chapter 1 of part I of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, and chapter 4 of part II of that Act, up to $70,000,000 may be made available for the provision of food, medicine, or other humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, notwithstanding any other provision of law. In carrying out this section, the Administrator of the Agency for International Development shall ensure that an equitable portion of the funds is made available to benefit Afghan women and girls, particularly in programs in refugee camps in Pakistan and in reconstruction projects in Afghanistan.
