AMENDMENTS TO ADDITIONAL DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE.

SEC. 549K. AMENDMENTS TO ADDITIONAL DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. Section 554(a) of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (Public Law 116–283) is amended—(1) in the section heading, by striking “deputy” and inserting “assistant”; (2) in paragraph (1)—(A) in the matter preceding subparagraph (A)—(i) by striking “Secretary of Defense” and inserting “Inspector General of the Department of Defense”; and (ii) by striking “Deputy” and inserting “Assistant”; (B) in subparagraph (A), by striking “of the Department”; and (C) in subparagraph (B), by striking “report directly to and serve” and inserting “be”; (3) in paragraph (2)—(A) in the matter preceding clause (i) of subparagraph (A)—(i) by striking “Conducting and supervising” and inserting “Developing and carrying out a plan for the conduct of comprehensive oversight, including through the conduct and supervision of”; and (ii) by striking “evaluations” and inserting “inspections,”; (B) in clause (ii) of subparagraph (A), by striking “, including the duties of the Inspector General under subsection (b)”; and (C) in subparagraph (B), by striking “Secretary or”; (4) in paragraph (3)(A) in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking “Deputy” and inserting “Assistant”; (5) in paragraph (4)—(A) in subparagraph (A), by striking “Deputy” each place it appears and inserting “Assistant”; (B) in subparagraph (B)—(i) by striking “Deputy” the first place it appears; (ii) by striking “and the Inspector General”; (iii) by striking “Deputy” the second place it appears and inserting “Assistant”; and (iv) by inserting before the period at the end the following: “, for inclusion in the next semiannual report of the Inspector General under section 5 of the Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C.
