COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS.

SEC. 173. COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS. (a) Pay Levels.— The State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 is amended— (1) in section 35(b) (22 U.S.C. 2706(b)) by inserting after the second sentence the following new sentence: “The Coordinator shall be compensated at the annual rate of pay for positions authorized by section 5315 of title 5, United States Code.”; and (2) in section 203(a) (22 U.S.C. 4303(a)) by inserting at the end “The Director shall be compensated at the annual rate of pay for positions authorized by section 5315 of title 5, United States Code.”. (b) Effective Date.— The amendments made by subsection (a) shall take effect 30 days after the date of enactment of this Act. (c) Budget Act.— Any new spending authority (as defined in section 401(c) of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974) provided by this section shall be effective for any fiscal year only to such extent or in such amounts as are provided in advance in appropriation Acts.
