Selective Service System
Selective Service System salaries and expenses For expenses necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Selective Service System, as authorized by the Universal Military Training and Service Act, as amended, including services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U. S. C. 55a); not to exceed $250 for the purchase of newspapers and periodicals; and purchase of one passenger motor vehicle for replacement only; $30,154,000; including not exceeding $1,856,000 for expenses of National Administration, Planning, Training, and Records Management, not exceeding $6,454,000 for expenses of State Administration, Planning, Training, and Records Servicing, and not exceeding $339,500 for expenses of special boards: Provided, That during the current fiscal year, the President may exempt this appropriation from the provisions of subsection (c) of section 3679 of the Revised Statutes, as amended, whenever he deems such action to be necessary in the interest of national defense.
