NATIONAL PARK SERVICE management and protection For expenses necessary for the management and protection of the areas and facilities administered by the National Park Service, including protection of lands in process of condemnation; and for plans, investigations, and studies of the recreational resources (exclusive of preparation of detail plans and working drawings) and archaeological values in river basins of the United States (except the Missouri River Basin); $8,791,000. maintenance and rehabilitation of physical facilities For expenses necessary for the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of roads, trails, buildings, utilities, and other physical facilities essential to the operation of areas administered pursuant to law by the National Park Service, $8,004,000. 66 Stat. 456 construction For construction and improvement, without regard to the Act of August 24, 1912, as amended (16 U. S. C. 451), of roads, trails, parkways, buildings, utilities, and other physical facilities; and the acquisition of lands, interests therein, improvements, and water rights; to remain available until expended; $14,770,000. general administrative expenses For expenses necessary for general administration of the National Park Service, including such expenses in the regional offices, $1,342,000. administrative provisions Appropriations for the National Park Service shall be available for purchase of not to exceed nineteen passenger motor vehicles for replacement only; cleaning and repair of uniforms for National Capital Parks police and guards; and the. objects and purposes specified in the Act of August 7, 1946 (16 U. S. C. 17j–2).
