FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Salaries and expenses: For necessary expenses in performing the duties of the Commission as authorized by law, including newspapers (not to exceed $175), land and structures (not to exceed $13,000), special counsel fees, improvement and care of grounds and repairs to buildings (not to exceed $17,500), services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U. S. C. 55a), purchase of not to exceed eight passenger motor vehicles, for replacement only, in the event adequate vehicles cannot be obtained by transfer from other Departments or agencies, and not to exceed $88,000 for expenses of travel, $7,400,000, of which not less than $1,018,496 shall be available for personal services necessary for application processing and hearings in connection with the issuance and renewal of television licenses, and not less than $809,271 shall be available for personal services necessary for application processing and hearings in connection with the issuance of licenses in the safety and special radio services.
