Sec. 106. That the requirement, that local interests provide the ferries and bridges required for land traffic across the lateral and terminal canals, with respect to the river and harbor project authorized by the 68 Stat. 1256 Act of August 30, 1935 (49 Stat. 1028), on the Pearl River, Mississippi, below Jackson, shall hereafter be ineffective: Provided, That local interests furnish assurances satisfactory to the Secretary of the Army that they will hold and save the United States free from any claim for damage which might result from deprivation of access to the area.
