Prohibited classes

§ 5532. Prohibited classes The enlistment in the naval service of a person is prohibited if that person— (1) is a male and under 14 years of age; (2) is a female and under 18 years of age; (3) is insane; (4) is intoxicated; or (5) has deserted in time of war from any of the armed forces unless, in time of war, his enlistment is permitted by such authority as the Secretary of the Navy designates.
