§ 5761. Navy; staff corps officers: numbers that may be recommended for promotion to grade of rear admiral The Secretary of the Navy shall furnish the appropriate selection board convened under chapter 543 of this title with the number of officers in any staff corps that may be recommended for promotion to the grade of rear admiral. This number, determined by the Secretary as of the date the selection board is convened, is equal to the number of vacancies existing in the grade of rear admiral in the corps 351 concerned, plus the number of additional vacancies estimated for the next 12 months, minus the number of captains in the corps concerned on the promotion list.
