§ 5142. Bureau of Naval Personnel: Chief of Chaplains There is a Chief of Chaplains in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, detailed by the Chief of Naval Personnel from officers on the active list of the Navy in the Chaplains Corps not below the grade of rear admiral. The Chief of Chaplains, while so serving, is entitled to the basic pay and allowances of a rear admiral in the upper half of that grade.
