§ 8531. Chief of Staff to President: appointment The President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, may appoint a general officer of the Air Force as Chief of Staff to the President. Unless entitled to the rank, pay, and allowances of a grade above lieutenant general under another provision of law, an officer so appointed by and with the advice and consent of the Senate is entitled to the rank, pay, and allowances of a general, and is additional to the numbers otherwise authorized for that grade.
