Temporary grade of colonel in the Air Force: appointment of women

§ 8071. Temporary grade of colonel in the Air Force: appointment of women The President may appoint one female Air Force officer to be on active duty in the temporary grade of colonel in the Air Force for four years, unless the appointment is sooner terminated. However, except for a female officer retired in the grade of colonel and recalled to active duty in that grade, only one appointment may be in effect at a time. This section does not limit the authority to promote women designated under section 8067 of this title to the temporary grade of colonel.
