Sec. 10. (a) On and after July 1, 1955, each promotion to group B, or group C, within a salary class shall become effective on the date of the regular Board meeting immediately preceding the date of approval by the Board or on the effective date of the master’s degree or the completion of thirty credit hours beyond the master’s degree, whichever is later. (b) Any employee in a position covered by section 1 of this Act who is promoted to group B or group C of the same salary class shall be assigned to the same numerical service step on the schedule for his new group as he would have occupied on the schedule from which promoted.
