Sec. 302. (a) Section 341 of the Public Health Service Act, as amended, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new sentence: “Upon the admittance to, and departure from, a hospital of the Service of a person who voluntarily submitted himself for treatment pursuant to the provisions of this section and who at the time of his admittance to such hospital was a resident of the District of Columbia, the Surgeon General shall furnish to the Commissioners of the District of Columbia, or their designated agent, the name, address, and such other pertinent information as may be useful in the rehabilitation to society of such person.” (b) Section 344 (d) of such Act is amended by striking out “shall be confidential” and inserting in lieu thereof “shall, except as otherwise provided by this Act, be confidential”. (c) The second sentence of section 345 (a) of such Act is amended to read as follows: “No such addict shall be admitted unless (1) committed prior to July 1, 1958; (2) at the time of commitment, the number of persons in hospitals of the Service who have been admitted pursuant to this subsection is less than one hundred; and (3) suitable accommodations are available after all eligible addicts convicted of offenses against the United States have been admitted.”
