Ships and Facilities For expenses necessary for design, maintenance, operation, and alteration of vessels; maintenance and operation of facilities; procurement of plant equipment, appliances, and machine tools, and installation thereof in public or private plants; procurement of equipment, supplies, special clothing and services; installation, maintenance, and removal of ships’ ordnance; lease of facilities and docks; charter and hire of vessels; relief of vessels in distress; maritime salvage services; military communications facilities on merchant vessels; industrial mobilization; and departmental salaries; $820,000,000; of which $16,360,000 shall be transferred to the appropriation “Coast Guard Operating Expenses, 1958” for the operation of ocean stations: Provided, That notwithstanding the availability of the trust fund “Naval Reservation, Olongapo Civic Fund,” this appropriation shall be available for such support of the town of Olongapo as may be authorized by law.
