provisional acceptance Sec. 311. Any person who, after April 5, 1917, and before November 12, 1918, (1) applied for enlistment or enrollment in the active military, naval, or air service and was provisionally accepted and directed or ordered to report to a place for final acceptance into such service, or (2) was drafted for military, naval, or air service and after reporting pursuant to the call of his local draft board and prior to rejection, or (3) after being called into the Federal service as a member of the National Guard but before being enrolled for the Federal service, suffered an injury or contracted a disease in line of duty and not the result of his own misconduct, will be considered to have incurred such disability in the active military, naval, or air service. Such person and the survivors of any such person who died from such disability before January 1, 1957, will be entitled to compensation provided by this title for veterans of World War I and their dependents.
