(a) Whenever there is no widow entitled to pension under section 441, the Administrator shall pay to the children of each veteran of World War I who met the service requirements of section 421, or who at the time of his death was receiving (or entitled to receive) compensation or retirement pay based upon a service-connected disability, a pension at the following monthly rate: (1) One child, $27.30; (2) Two children, $40.95; and (3) Three children, $54.60, with $7.56 for each additional child. (b) Pension prescribed by this section shall be paid to eligible children in equal shares.
