claims film within one year of discharge of death Sec. 2317. (a) A claim for disability compensation tiled on or after the effective date of this Act and within one year from the date of the veteran’s separation during the year immediately before such effective date from active military, naval, or air service, or a claim for death compensation filed on or after the effective date of this Act and within one year from the date of the veteran’s death occurring in the year immediately before such effective date will be adjudicated under title III of this Act and the laws in effect on the day before such effective date. If entitlement is established, compensation will be paid under such laws for the appropriate period before the effective date of this Act and under this Act thereafter. (b) A claim for compensation based on the disability (or death occurring before January 1, 1957) of a World War I veteran, if filed on or after the effective date of this Act and within one year following the date of enactment of this Act, may be adjudicated, as to service-connection only, under the laws in effect on the day before the effective date of this Act.
