NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION Salaries and expenses: For expenses necessary to carry out the purposes of the National Science Foundation Act of 1950, as amended (42 U. S. C. 1861–1875), including award of graduate fellowships; services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U. S. C. 55a), at rates not to exceed $50 per diem for individuals; hire of passenger motor vehicles; not to exceed $175,000 for expenses of travel; not to exceed $350 for the purchase of newspapers and periodicals; and reimbursement of the General Services Administration for security guard services; $40,000,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That of the foregoing amount not less than $9,500,000 shall be available for tuition, grants, and allowances in connection with a program of supplementary training for high school science and mathematics teachers.
