Receiving boxes
§ 6003. Receiving boxes (a) When the public convenience requires, the Postmaster General may provide receiving boxes for the deposit of mail and for the collection of mail deposited therein. (b) The Postmaster General may not place a receiving box inside a building except a railroad station, a public building, or a building which is freely open to the public during business hours. He may declare that chutes or other devices approved by him which are connected with receiving boxes are part thereof and under the exclusive care and custody of the Department.
