§ 5010. Return receipts (a) Upon payment of the fee prescribed by him, the Postmaster General shall provide senders of mail, receipts showing either— (1) to whom and when the article was delivered, or (2) to whom, when, and the address where the article was delivered. (b) Receipts furnished under subsection (a) of this section shall be received in the courts as prima facie evidence of the delivery. (c) The Postmaster General may refund fees paid for receipts under subsection (a) of this section when the failure to furnish the receipt, or the equivalent, is the fault of the postal service.
